GoDaddy is one of the most well-known domain and web hosting brands, so often, it is also the first choice for many people who wants to start their blog or website. One of the downsides of GoDaddy is lack of resources and features, especially in their shared hosting plans.
So, you will notice that shared hosting on GoDaddy is often slower than less-known competitors, such as A2 Hosting. However, it is not always the reason for your website being slow, especially your WordPress dashboard. And if your website is loading fine for you but the Dashboard is slow then this is definitely not normal.
Your WordPress Dashboard could be slowed down due to several reasons, and you can follow the steps here to fix them.
Fix Slow WordPress Dashboard on GoDaddy:
#1 – Remove Caching:
This is one of the most common reasons for your WordPress Dashboard to be slow in GoDaddy shared hosting and Managed WP hosting. So, if you are using some kind of caching plugin, disable it. The situation can be a bit better if you use Object Caching using W3 Total Cache, but Object Caching is also known to slow down the blog in GoDaddy Shared Hosting.
Why is that?
It is because GoDaddy caches our website by default on their server. So, we don’t need any caching plugin. And they have even outright blacklisted many caching plugins, which you can check here.
I recommend that you only use plugins to minify your JS and CSS files. A good plugin from my experience is Autoptimize for this.
If you don’t find GoDaddy’s caching good enough for you then you can use some other plugins such as Super Page Cache or App for Cloudflare and cache your website over Cloudflare. It is much faster than caching your WordPress blog on your own server.
#2 – Plugins:
Each plugin you install have some impact on your blog’s performance. And the impact varies from plugin to plugin. Having too many plugins is also a good way to slow down your whole blog, not just the dashboard.
So, if you are having a lot of plugins, you should disable the ones which are not required. And apart from that, you can also test which plugin is causing the issue by using a plugin such as Query Monitor.
#3 – Dashboard Widgets:
Disable the widgets on your WordPress Dashboard. You can do so by clicking on Screen Options which is at the top of the screen on your WP Dashboard. Simply choose the ones which are actually useful for you. It will keep your Dashboard clean and fast as well.
Conclusion:
That’s pretty much all you can do to make your WordPress Dashboard faster in GoDaddy. It would be a good idea to switch to a better web host though. And if you are looking for a shared hosting for a WordPress blog then it would be better to find a web hosting which offers LiteSpeed Cache, such as A2 Hosting.
