Xiaomi have been well known for providing a decent experience for custom development for their devices. It has gone a bit downhill, but the developers are still doing great work for Mi devices.
However, to be able to use custom ROMs or kernels, or just root your device, you need to unlock your device’s bootloader and to do so, you need Mi Unlock Tool. It is a pretty easy to use tool, but sometimes, the users see “Anti-rollback check error” while they are trying to unlock their phone’s bootloader.
So, if you are one of those with the same issue – just follow the steps mentioned in this article to fix it.
Methods to fix Anti-rollback Check Error in Mi Flash Tool:
#1 – Anti-rollback Index:
This is one of the things you should consider while flashing your ROM.
Some phones’ stock ROMs have anti-rollback index which is there to stop the user from downgrading the ROM. And this can be one of the reasons for the anti-rollback check error on Mi Flash Tool.
You can check your phone’s anti-rollback index by connecting your phone in ADB mode and running the command fastboot getvar anti and then you can ask somebody else who is on the ROM which you are trying to flash to run the same command. If both are having the same Anti-rollback Index value, then the issue is somewhere else.
Apart from that, if you want to flash a older version of stock ROM and facing this issue, you can simply use a custom recovery to flash older version of your stock ROM. It will also replace the custom recovery with Mi Recovery, so keep that in mind.
#2 – The Space:
This is the most common reason for Mi Flash Tool to show the error “Anti-rollback check”.
You have to make sure that there is no space in the name of folders in your ROM folder directory. To make things easier, you can simply copy the ROM folder to any of your drives’ root folder. Such as copy the folder directly to C:/ instead of keeping it in any folder.
#3 – Too Long Folder Name:
Sometimes, if your ROM folder’s name is too long, you also see this error. So, make sure that ROM folder’s name is not too long.
Conclusion:
That’s all. If you are still having the issue and you have diagnosed it properly, maybe it is time to re-download the ROM file. Also, as mentioned above, you can downgrade to older ROM firmware by flashing the ROM file using custom recovery. Just make sure that you are trying to flash the proper file.
