Search Advisor Dialog Box

Steps to Disable Search Advisor in Bitdefender

Bitdefender is one of the most trusted computer security solutions. However, just like every other third-party antivirus software, Bitdefender also brings its own set of issues and useless bloatware. Some of the features which we consider issues, or bloatware can be useful for some, but for most they are just annoying.

Search Advisor Dialog Box

One such feature is Search Advisor feature from Bitdefender. It helps you verify whether a website is safe or not before you actually visit the site. It might be useful for some people, but for the most users it will be fairly useless. This feature adds the “checkmark” in search results and when you hover on it, you can see whether the site is secure or not.

For secure sites, you will see “This page is safe” and “We could not find any suspect elements on this page”.

It does seem like a great feature, but most browsers nowadays are having Google Safe Browsing API. So, most of the infected websites will be blocked by your browser itself. And even if it does not, Bitdefender also have its own Firewall, which also blocks malicious websites from being opened.

So, overall, this feature is not that needed and on top of that, it slows down Google search significantly for most users.

However, you should stay careful while opening random websites and use a decent adblocker such as uBlock Origin (Lite). It will help you avoid the phishing and malware filled ads in Google search results, which is a common problem nowadays.
