Jio Set Top Box Blocked

How to Unblock Jio Set-Top-Box?

Jio Set Top Box Blocked

Jio’s set-top-box is one of the few things Reliance Jio have actually done right. It is quite fast, does not lag and their JioTV+ can be useful for elderly people who don’t want to switch between different apps to watch their favourite shows or movies. However, just like with everything from Jio, there are some restrictions placed on their Jio Set Top Box as well.

So, if you are facing issues with your Jio Set Top Box being blocked, there are few things you can do to fix it.

Before I begin, do remember, none of these would work if you don’t have JioFiber connection and if it is not recharged. So, if you are here for that then Cya!

How to unblock Jio Set Top Box which is blocked?

Jio Network:

Make sure that your set top box is actually connected to your JioFiber’s Wi-Fi or ethernet connection. It will work for some days on other networks, but it will still need to run on your JioFiber connection every few days. So, make sure that you are actually using your JioFiber WiFi or ethernet.

If you have ever connected a different Wi-Fi on your Jio Set Top Box, it can automatically connect to that Wi-Fi if it finds that. So, sometimes, that can be the reason.

You will most likely see Error #002 on your Jio Set Top Box when this happens.

Associated Account:

Your Jio Set Top Box is associated with your JioFiber account. So, if you decided to use a JioFiber Set Top Box which is associated with disconnected or inactive JioFiber account, you cannot use it anymore. So, better call to JioFiber team and get a new Set Top Box. And yes, if you are having Prepaid connection, you will need to pay for it.

It is easy to check if your set top box is properly associated with your account or not. Simply open MyJio app > JioFiber > My device > JioFiber Home Gateway > Set Top Box. Now match the serial number of your Set Top Box with the serial number mentioned in your app.

You could be seeing Error #001 due to this.

Active Plan:

For JioFiber to work, you need an active plan with OTT apps. Since the initial 30 Mbps and 100 Mbps plans do not have OTT apps’ subscription, you will need at least ₹599 plan for 30 Mbps and ₹899 plan for 100 Mbps.

You should not be able to recharge non-OTT plan if your JioFiber account has Set Top Box associated, however, since we are talking about Jio, anything can happen. So, if you do manage to do that, your Set Top Box will stop working.

Error #001 is shown even for this problem. So, do check your active plan to make sure that your plan is having OTT apps if you see this error.

Reset STB:

This can be useful for you if you are already having active plan with OTT apps and you are testing it on JioFiber network. So, simply reset your Jio Set Top Box and then setup it from start again. Make sure to choose the right network while trying to sign in. If everything is fine then your Set Top Box should start working fine.

Jio Care:

This is the last option. However, contrary to typical Jio service experience, this should not be that bad. Yes, your luck may vary but Jio is known to be pretty good for issues like these.

You might find it difficult to raise service request properly though. If you do, here’s the easiest way:

Step #1 – Open MyJio app > Fiber & AirFiber.

Click on JioCare in MyJio app

Step #2 – Click on JioCare at the bottom.

Click on request call back to raise service request quickly

Step #3Contact us > Set Top Box > Set Top Box status > Request call back.

Now, just wait for their call. You should get it within seconds and just let them know the issue. They will create a service request after which their employee should visit your home the same day or the next day.

They will most likely choose to replace the Jio STB with a new or refurbished one. It may take a little time, but your replaced Jio STB should start working soon.

Conclusion:

I hope this article was helpful for you. I know that some people just want to use it without JioFiber connection, but their set top box is fairly locked down, just like with everything else Jio. You might have a chance to unlock your Jio STB and use it with other ISPs, but only if you are on older firmware, which you most likely won’t.
