Fix Brave Browser Sync Issues Easily

Fix Brave Browser Sync Issues

Brave browser is becoming popular among people since it has quite strong in-built adblocking capabilities, privacy-centric, works fast and some people seem to be fond of making some money by looking at ads. It is one of the most famous browsers since it blocks most of the trackers, have good fingerprinting protection and so on. However, one of the most problematic parts of the browser is their sync issues. You can still fix Brave browser sync issues easily.

Their sync used to stop working randomly once the user hit the limit. They tried to fix it by increasing the limit, but the power users still ended up hitting that limit. Each time this happened, the sync chain for the users completely stopped working.

Instead of increasing the limit further, Brave team decided to reduce the limit separately for History sync to 26K, while the limit for everything else was decided to be 35K. So, now even if you are browsing a lot, your browser history won’t result in complete interruption of your browser synchronisation.

However, your browser history will still stop syncing if you hit the limit before 14 days (the duration for how long your history is stored in their servers). So, to avoid this and fix Brave browser sync issues, you can follow the steps mentioned in this article.

How to fix Brave sync?

If you are hitting the limit for history sync then there are two options for you. The first option is to just wait for a few days, so their server could delete the old History data, or you can delete the sync chain and create a new one. Remember to add all of your devices once you are done creating the new sync chain.

Steps to delete and create a new Sync chain:

Open Brave > Settings > Sync.

Click on “Managed your synced devices”.

Click on “Delete Sync account”. And then create a new one.

You don’t have to worry about your data. It won’t be deleted from your computer when you delete the sync chain.

Still not syncing?

For some users, it might still be not working. For those, you can try downloading Brave nightly version and test whether sync is working or not. If sync is working, then the best option would be to import data from Brave and then re-install Brave stable build.

If it doesn’t work even in Nightly build, then try using any VPN on both of your devices. If it starts working then it might be your ISP which is having issues with Brave’s sync chain server. You can try changing DNS server for once and see if it helps, though it is unlikely to fix it. Still, worth a try.

Conclusion:

Brave is an excellent browser, that’s why we love it. And since it has excellent ad-blocking capabilities even in Android, it is loved by many of its users as well. However, for extremely heavy users, it may have sync issues. It might not be a problem for regular users, but I believe they should find a better solution for the heavy users.

It is not like that they are doing nothing for this. Initially, the limit was around 50k, which they increased to 75k and later 85k. However, since it was not good enough because people were hitting the limit due to history sync, they decided to go with separate sync of history and other data.

So, if you are a heavy user, then the only thing you can do for a proper functioning history sync is to delete the sync chain and create a new one each time you hit the limit.

If you are looking for an alternative then Firefox, Vivaldi, Opera, Chrome, and Edge would be pretty good options. These browsers have perfectly working sync feature, at the moment. Choosing the perfect one depends on your requirements and preferences.
